Zara Ensures Support Of ‘One Country, Two Systems’
WESTERN CLOTHING RETAILER ISSUED A WEIBO POST ON MONDAY REAFFIRMING THE COMPANY'S SUPPORT OF "ONE COUNTRY, TWO SYSTEMS" AND RESPECTING "THE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE TERRITORY OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA"
(CNN) – Western clothing retailer Zara posted on Weibo Monday, reaffirming their support for “one country, two systems”
And their respect for “the sovereignty of the people’s Republic of China.”
The post was in response to customer questions about delayed openings of their stores in Hong Kong on Monday and if the company and their staff were supportive of the pro-democracy movement strike.
Here is what the post said, “Zara respects the sovereignty of the territory of the people’s Republic of China, ‘one country, two systems’ policy… Zara has never been involved in any strike, comments or activities with this subject.”
Zara is the first clothing retailer to weigh in on the pro-democracy debate in Hong Kong.
