200+ Footwear Companies Ask Trump To Cancel Tariffs
ADIDAS, NIKE, CONVERSE JOIN MORE THAN 200 FOOTWEAR COMPANIES WARNING TRUMP OVER TARIFFS
(CNN) – Footwear companies are urging president Trump to scrap his new tariffs on Chinese imports, including shoes.
More than 200 companies, including Nike, Converse and Adidas sent him a letter on Wednesday.
It says the tariffs will amount to a hidden tax on Americans.
The leader of an industry association says the tariffs will not only lead to higher prices for consumers, but they will also affect American jobs and growth in those companies.
Last week, president Trump said he would increase tariffs on $300-billion worth on Chinese imports.
The tariffs are set to kick in on Sunday, but most products will not be affected until mid-December.
