Chewacla State Park in Auburn Has Something for Everyone

Football season is kicking in and that means fall weather is not too far behind. Finding a hotel can be quite the chore if you plan to stay in Auburn when the Tigers are home battling it out on the gridiron. How about trying out a unique form of accommodation if you’re planning to catch a game or just spend time outdoors? WLTZ Meteorologist Miller Robson has an idea.

Nestled just south of Interstate 85 off Shell Toomer Parkway, sits Chewacla State Park, close to 700 scenic acres offering rest, recreation and relaxation. Perfect for camping of course, but perhaps you prefer a more modern experience.

“At Chewacla we have 36 full hook-up camp sites so they can make reservations and stay for the game. We also have 6 cabins they can rent out as well. The cabins were built back in the 1930s and renovated them back in 2004. They’ve got all the modern amenities. Everything except for a telephone so you can come and unplug and have fun.”

Once the tailgating and game are over, there’s plenty to do keep you busy in this beautiful retreat, especially for the kids.

“We’ve got mountain biking that the kids really love. We’ve also got the lake they can swim in if it’s still warm enough. We’ve got paddle boats, canoes and stand up kayaks.”

Not mention fishing in its 26-acre lake, home to plenty of bass, crappie and catfish. And don’t forget to check out perhaps the most majestic feature the park has to offer-  Chewacla Falls…. a picture-perfect spot to snap a keepsake.

Whether you’re going to Auburn for the touchdowns or just some down time, Chewacla State Park awaits you with open arms… warmly inviting you to experience nature at its very best… and the cabins are pretty cool, too!  Miller Robson… WLTZ First News.
