Hit/Miss Storms Thursday, Staying Humid

A weak ridge has helped keep slightly drier air in place across the area, but it is still quite humid and that humidity is not going anywhere over the next 8 days. It will stay hot, but not expecting extreme temperatures although heat indices could hit the upper 90s through late week.

Looking at isolated showers and thunderstorms Thursday through Saturday mainly in the afternoon and early evening. A few of these storms could produce gusty winds, frequent lightning and periods of heavy rainfall.

A cold front will push its way into the region as we approach the weekend and is expected to stall across central Alabama into central Georgia Saturday. This will help increase shower and thunderstorm activity Sunday into Monday. It will also help cool down temperatures briefly for those two days before returning to near seasonal highs and lows mid next week.

Another upper low moves in early next week bringing an unsettled air mass with it, so daily rain chances remain in the forecast through late into the week.

Have a great evening!
