High Heat, Rogue Storms
HEAT INDICES 100-105 LIKELY EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH THE WEEKEND
We saw a couple of isolated strong storms yesterday, with a couple briefly pulsing to severe limits. We’ll see more of those storms today with perhaps a little less in the way of intensity, though gusty winds will still be possible with any storm. The big story, however, will be the heat outside of those storms. High temperatures in the middle to perhaps upper 90s in a few locations will combine with very humid conditions to produce heat index readings in the 100-105 range. With the triple digit heat indices, caution needs to be taken outside during the hottest part of the day. Stay hydrated!
The very warm weather will continue for the next several days. Although we aren’t expecting a complex of storms today, we could still see organized areas of showers and thunderstorms drop through our area Friday into the weekend. Those storms could bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall. Outside of that, however, the heat and humidity will continue with highs in the 93-98 degree range throughout the area and lows in the low to mid 70s.
