Sun, Showers, and Storms This Weekend

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS FOR THE WEEKEND, LOTS OF BREAKS IN CLOUDS AS WELL

After a Thursday afternoon and evening where a lot of us saw heavy rainfall with showers and storms, we should see a little lesser coverage of rain today. The atmosphere will take a bit to recover from the activity yesterday, but scattered showers and thunderstorms are still in the offering for your Friday with highs in the low 90s and overnight lows in the lower 70s. Weak winds aloft will mean, like yesterday, the showers and storms will be slow moving, so heavy rainfall and localized flooding will be possible, especially in areas already saturated from Thursday rainfall. With a weak frontal boundary just to our north, we may see showers and storms linger well into the nighttime hours as we saw last night, so keep that in mind if you have any late Friday night plans.

We’ll see a little greater coverage in showers and thunderstorms tomorrow as the aforementioned front to our north drops down and joins forces with a wave of low pressure moving northeast from the Florida Big Bend region. Scattered showers and storms will continue into Sunday and the first part of the work week, but temperatures will be near normal with afternoon readings around 90 and overnight lows in the 69-74 range.
