Diabetes and heart disease.

In Your Medical Minute,

Diabetes increases the risk of heart failure, especially in women.

That’s according to a new study of 12 million people across the globe.

It showed women with type one diabetes were five times more likely to develop heart failure than those without diabetes.

The risk was three times higher for men.

Likewise, the increased risk for heart failure among type two diabetics was 95 percent in women and 74 percent in men.
