Occasional Thunderstorm Around Here

Barry Strikes The Gulf Coast

Oppressive humidity remains the name of the game around here.  A stationary front situated to our north does not have the energy necessary to drive a wedge of lower humidity into the region.  So, muggy it shall stay.   Hit/miss, mainly afternoon and early night thunderstorms, will continue to be on the prowl this weekend.   However, Barry remains far enough away from the valley, so no significant weather is expected.

As for Barry, Louisiana and Mississippi will bear the brunt of the storm before it shifts into the Midwest early next week.   Closer to home, our stationary front will eventually dissipate, and the threat for an afternoon thunderstorm will diminish next week.   Therefore, some sunshine and high humidity will lead to a heat index over 100 for most afternoons next week.   Stay cool.
