Future Bulldogs Enjoy Stellar Day

Caterina Don and Celeste Dao, who will join the Georgia women’s golf team as freshmen next month, carded rounds of 64 and 65, respectively, in prestigious amateur tournaments on Wednesday.

Don, a native of Pinerolo, Italy, captured medalist honors in stroke play qualifying of the European Girls’ Team Championships. She shot 12-under over two rounds at the Parador de El Saler Golfer course in Valencia, Spain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dao, who is from Notre-Dame-de-I’lle-Perrot, Quebec, Canada, opened her day with an eagle and finished at 5-under in the second round of the Girls’ Junior PGA Championship at Keney Park Golf Course in Hartford, Conn.

Don blistered the course en route to an 8-under effort on Wednesday and a a 4-shot victory over Germany’s Paula Schulz-Hanssen. That helped Italy earn the top seed for the match play bracket. Don and her teammates will face the Netherlands in the quarterfinals on Thursday. Live scoring can be found under the “results” tab here.
