Daily Scattered Showers & Thunderstorms
Humidity Remains Thick
Daily showers and thunderstorms are possible this week and we could see some tropical action as we get closer to the weekend.
An upper ridge will help introduce some drier air into the area today and tomorrow, but scattered showers and thunderstorms will still fire up in the afternoon today and Tuesday mainly due to daytime heating. A shortwave of energy could trigger a few strong storms.
A weak surface front will also approach the area today then pass through by Tuesday afternoon. This will help push low pressure over the southeast down into the Gulf by Wednesday before the front eventually stalls out. As the center of low pressure churns away between the northwestern part of the Florida peninsula and the eastern part of the Florida panhandle, potential is there for tropical development. There is increasing confidence that a tropical depression will indeed develop, so we will need to keep monitoring the situation and what impact it could have on our area. At this time, don’t think it will impact us much if any.
It will remain hot with heat indices in the low 100s through mid-week. Temperatures may retreat a bit as we approach the weekend depending on what happens once that low makes it into the Gulf. No Heat Advisories are expected.
TODAY- Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon under mostly cloudy skies. Highs in the low 90s. Heat indices in the low 100s. Breezy with gusts up to 15 mph.
TONIGHT- Isolated showers and thunderstorms then partly cloudy after midnight. Lows in the mid 70s.
TOMORROW- Scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon under partly sunny skies. Highs in the mid 90s
