Hot Start to July

Heat indices 100-105 this week

We can expect typical summertime conditions this week with daily afternoon showers and thunderstorms due to the daytime heat. But, as ridging continues to dominate the southeast, we are only looking at isolated showers and thunderstorms. Not expecting any severe weather, but some storms could turn strong with damaging winds, brief heavy downpours and lightning. Again, these will be isolated in nature.

Daytime temperatures will be hotter as we approach Independence Day on Thursday with some areas reaching for the upper 90s. Heat indices will almost certainly range from 100 to 105, so will need to keep an eye out for Heat Advisories that may be issued. Even if such advisories are not put in place, heat levels will still be dangerous so take precautions if you plan to head outdoors.
