Suspects Arrested For Ladonia Double Homicide
Ricky Morris and Debbie Parker In Police Custody
Two suspects are in police custody in connection to a fatal house fire in Phenix City including the boyfriend of a woman named as a person of interest who was allegedly spotted casually sipping a beer, strolling around the property as he watched the home burn to the ground.
State Investigators spent hours combing the scene, once a family home now reduced to a burned pile of rubble and they believe the fire was no accident.
Though the Russell County Coroner is still working with the Alabama Medical Examiner to make a positive identification, distraught friends described the elderly couple as perfect neighbors and appeared furious telling police on the scene there was an attempt to report some shady behavior in the past by a younger couple who befriended the elderly residents.
“And they did nothing. Oh my, I can’t believe you people,” Daniel Black said.
Reporter: What did you call police about. What did you tell them when you called? What was the complaint?
“I told them about that scam artist the Indian woman living with them and they did nothing,” Black said.
“Debbie told me that Mrs. Martha and her husband had sold their car to pay their bills up there when I first met them Yeah Debbie even had Mrs. Martha over here mowing my yard one day and I mow my own yard but yeah she’s been using that poor woman,” the suspect’s neighbor told First News.
Ricky Morris was taken into custody on the scene and police have since located their person of interest Debbie Parker. Charges are pending.
Investigators have not revealed a possible motive in the case and remain tight lipped about the investigation. The family of the elderly couple are requesting privacy and prayers from the public.
