Three Former Auburn High School Players Meet in the College World Series
AUBURN'S RYAN WATSON AND BROOKS FULLER SET TO FACE OFF AGAINST MISSISSIPPI STATE'S ROWDEY JORDAN
Ryan Watson, Rowdey Jordan and Brooks Fuller all used to wear the same uniform in high school. This Sunday Watson and Fuller will be in the opposite dugout of Jordan at the College World Series.
“It’s an awesome feeling I mean I’m so happy for those guys because they’ve worked so hard and they did so much for our program here, it’s just great that they get to play in the College World Series,” says Auburn high school baseball head coach Matt Cimo.
All former Auburn high school Tigers, Watson and Fuller now suit up for Auburn University and Jordan now a Mississippi State Bulldog.
“Ryan was kind of more serious, Rowdey is more of a prankster, and Brooks is kind of a, he was the more serious too, but combined all of their attitudes, they’re all winners and they’re all leaders,” says Cimo.
In high school all three played a part in getting Auburn to three consecutive 7A state championship appearances. Last season Fuller played an instrumental role in winning their first state title in eight years.
“Unbelievable. It made kids want to be a part of our program and Auburn is a program known because of those guys and I think your dream is to play in a College World Series and they’re fulfiling their dream and hopefully one of those three guys will win a National Championship,” says Cimo.
Auburn and Mississippi State will meet in Omaha on Sunday night. First pitch set for 7:30 eastern time.
