SCOTUS To Meet Thursday To Discuss DACA
SUPREME COURT TO MEET BEHIND CLOSED DOORS ON THURSDAY TO DISCUSS DACA
(CNN) – A closed door meeting about the deferred action for childhood arrivals is on the Supreme Court’s agenda.
Thursday the nation’s high court will discuss whether to take up a case for next term concerning the phase out of the DACA program.
That’s the Obama-era program that protects young undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as children from deportation.
The Trump administration wants the Supreme Court to hear the case, after several lower courts ruled against rescinding DACA.
The news that the justices have decided to at least discuss the case could mean that a decision would be rendered during the heart of the 2020 presidential campaign.
