Netflix Weighs In On Georgia Abortion Law

NETFLIX WILL NOT BOYCOTT GEORGIA OVER ABORTION BAN, BUT PLEDGES TO HELP FIGHT IT

Atlanta, GA (WSB) – Netflix is pledging to help the ACLU fight Georgia’s abortion ban.

The state’s governor recently signed a bill that bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

Since then, several producers and actors including Kristen Wiig have refused to work in Georgia.

Others like J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele are continuing to film in the state, but are donating to organizations that are fighting the law.

Netflix says it will re-think its position if the law comes into effect.

That’s slated to happen January 1st.

It’s unlikely any of the newly-passed abortion bans will take effect unless the supreme court overturns Roe versus Wade.

That 1973 decision guarantees women in the united states have the right to obtain abortions.
