Prince Harry Wins Damages Over Aerial Photos Of Home
SPLASH NEWS AND PICTURE AGENCY AGREES TO PAY DAMAGES AND LEGAL FEES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE'S HOME FROM A HELICOPTER
(CNN) – Splash News and Picture Agency agreed Thursday to pay damages and legal costs for an incident involving Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in January.
Photographers working for the company took pictures of the royal couple’s Oxfordshire home from a helicopter it chartered.
The chopper flew above the home at altitudes low enough to take photos of living areas, including inside a bedroom.
That created a security risk that made it impossible for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to live in the property.
Prince Harry took legal steps to have the photographs removed from various media outlets.
The agency agreed to do so and apologized for the incident.
Buckingham palace describes the amount of the sum paid as “substantial.”
