Trump Signs Exec Order Likely Aimed At Huawei
COULD FIGHT BETWEEN U.S., CHINA INTENSIFY AFTER TRUMP SIGNS EXECUTIVE ORDER?
(CNN) – President Trump has signed an executive order that analysts say directly targets controversial Chinese telecom giant Huawei.
The order, signed Wednesday, instructs Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross to ban transactions that pose, “an unacceptable risk.”
The order does not specify a single company or nation.
But experts believe the White House is targeting Huawei.
The United States has long alleged Huawei poses a spying risk to the nation’s technology infrastructure, and has encouraged other countries to ban the company from its telecom networks.
China denies this, accusing the White House of, “abusing the concept of national security.”
The move comes amid a growing trade war between the United States and China, with both countries raising tariffs.
