MERCEDES-BENZ'S AGGRESSIVE CLIMATE PLEDGE: ALL CARS WILL BE CARBON-NEUTRAL BY 2039
(CNN) – Mercedes-Benz wants to make all of its new passenger cars carbon-neutral within two decades.
The company made the pledge Monday.
Mercedes said the goal means a ‘fundamental transformation of our company.’
Execs say it is making the overhaul explicit because of environmental concerns.
Mercedes also plans to lean on wind-power and other forms of clean energy to make its vast manufacturing operations cleaner.
Volkswagen and other major auto makers have made similar, but less aggressive, carbon-neutral manufacturing goals.
