CDC: More Than 760 Measles Cases, Most In New York
MEASLES CASES ON THE RISE IN THE U.S.
(CNN) – Measles cases are still on the rise in the U.S.
The Centers for Disease Control said Monday that the number of cases reported so far this year has climbed to 764 in 23 states.
That’s 60 more cases than the number reported by the CDC last week.
52 of those new cases came out of New York state.
These outbreaks are the longest and largest since measles was declared eliminated in the U.S. in the year 2000.
Last week, New York City’s Deputy Health cCmmissioner said the local outbreak isn’t under control yet due in part to anti- vaccination advocates leading misinformation campaigns.
Updated counts for measles cases are released by the CDC each Monday.
