American Red Cross Needing Volunteers To Install Free Smoke Detectors in Houses Across Muscogee County

Georgia’s Red Cross responded to around 2800 home fires last year.

So now, volunteers are needed to install thousands of free smoke alarms for local families in Muscogee County as well as other counties across Georgia.

The free installation will happen this Saturday, May 4 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

According to the American Red Cross, we should be checking our smoke alarms once a month.

People can register now at SoundTheAlarm.org to help install free smoke alarms, replace batteries in existing alarms and help families create home fire escape plans. There is also information about how to help fundraiser to help people impacted by a home fire-related emergency.
