Pelosi: Socialism ‘Not The View’ Of Democratic Party
PELOSI CONTINUES TO DISTANCE HERSELF, DEMOCRATIC PARTY FROM SOCIALSM
(CNN) – Bernie Sanders is a front runner in the 2020 race and congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continues to make headlines for her policy proposals.
Both are self-described Democratic socialists.
But current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is insisting that socialist views do not represent the Democratic party.
Pelosi’s comments came during an interview on CBS ’60 Minutes’ Sunday regarding Democrats supporting ‘Medicare for all.’
Some are using that health care proposal as an example of democrats moving further left.
Other 2020 Democratic hopefuls are also making their stances on socialism clear.
Senator Elizabeth Warren and former representative Beto O’Rourke have both said directly that they’re not socialists.
Pelosi said Democrats that lean further left only make up a small number in Congress, saying AOC is one of, “like five people.”
