Inaugural Tour De Troup Benefit Bicycle Ride Will Kick Off May 11

The Friends of the Thread, and event sponsor CenterState Bank will hold their first ever Tour de Troup benefit bicycle ride on May 11.

This outdoor fundraiser hosts cyclists, adventurists, and families in exploring the beautiful countryside and local community.

This serves as a means to raise funds for The Friends of The Thread, the nonprofit organization that advocates for the new linear trail system in Troup County, The Thread.

The ride will start in downtown LaGrange and have four separate routes giving every level of rider the opportunity to enjoy a route with ample stops supplied by local vendors.

The route will include parts of “The Thread” that have been completed as well as local sites and businesses in LaGrange, West Point, Hogansville, and unincorporated Troup County.

The Full Tour is a 100 mile route on mostly low traffic back roads in Hogansville, Mountville, West Point, and across the West Point dam. Start time is 6:30 a.m.

The Half Tour is a 65 mile route on mostly traffic backroads of Hogansville and Mountville. Start time is 7:30 a.m.

The Short Tour is a 37 mile route on mostly low traffic back roads taking you through Hogansville and LaGrange. Start time is 8:30 a.m.

The Family Tour is a 5 mile family fun ride along The Thread and local residential streets. Start time is at 9:30 a.m.

Registration fee for all four tours is $50.

When riders return to the start/finish line the local vendors who refreshed them on the route will be available to fuel them at the end.

More on The Thread: The Thread is an environmentally sensitive, non-motorized, multipurpose trail designed to increase the health and wellness of the community through providing a safe environment in LaGrange, Georgia for fitness, recreation, transportation and special events.
