Tornado Watch In Effect

Damaging Winds For Some

A tornado watch is in effect until 9am cdt across Alabama, and until 2pm edt for Georgia, with the exception of Quitman, Randolph and Clay

Rain with embedded intense thunderstorms will continue to move eastward this morning through the early afternoon hours before moving away.   Damaging wind gusts are the biggest concern. This is not the same type of setup as early March, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.  Know where to go if a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for your location.   Outside furniture should already be stored away.

Gusty wind will continue throughout Sunday and Sunday night, and there may be a hit/miss shower in the wake of these storms, but the risk of severe weather will exit quickly from west to east during the midday hours.  A wind advisory for wind gusts toward 35 mph is in effect until 10pm this evening.

Another round of severe storms is possible late in the work week.   Stay tuned, and stay safe.
