Heavy Storms Continuing

Windy All Day

A tornado watch is in effect until 2pm edt this afternoon; the exception is Quitman, Randolph and Clay counties which are under a tornado watch until 4pm.

Rain with embedded intense thunderstorms will continue to move eastward through the early afternoon hours before moving away.   Damaging wind gusts are the biggest concern. This is not the same type of setup as early March, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.  At least 4 deaths have been attributed to these storms as they crossed through Texas and Mississippi yesterday.  Know where to go if a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for your location.   Outside furniture should already be stored away.

Gusty wind will continue throughout Sunday and Sunday night, and there may be a hit/miss shower in the wake of these storms, but the risk of severe weather will exit quickly from west to east.  A wind advisory is in effect until 10pm/9 central this evening.

Another round of severe storms is possible late in the work week.   Stay tuned, and stay safe.
