Dead Tree Danger Removed From A Muscogee County School

People have been watching the tree die a slow death the past few years losing bark and almost every single limb.

A dangerously dead, once tall tree, not far from the sidewalk of a Columbus elementary school has been cut down.

Parents we talked to by Waddell Elementary say the worry was the tree could tumble onto the sidewalk along Miller Road as kids are walking home from school and as parents are walking to pick them up.

About three days after I called the Muscogee county school district to tell them about the danger the tree was removed.

People have been watching the tree die a slow death the past few years losing bark and almost every single limb.

After contacting the school district Wednesday the 10th of April about my previous request about a week ago to have the tree cut down they sent us this statement which reads.

“The tree was reported to us by a concerned citizen and removed by our team.

We are thankful that we have community members who report items that could potentially cause damage to our properties.

We encourage the community to continue to report items of that nature to our plant services department.
