Fans Pack Auburn Arena as the Men’s Basketball Team Returns from the Final Four
THE AUBURN MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS SUCCESS THIS SEASON WAS CELEBRATED DOWN ON THE PLAINS SUNDAY AFTERNOON
The Auburn faithful packed Auburn Arena Sunday afternoon for the Auburn men’s basketball team, as they made their return home after a long run in the NCAA tournament.
While the team would have liked to return back to Auburn with the National Championship trophy, they still have plenty of accomplishments to celebrate inculding the SEC tournament championship win and as Midwest Regional champs.
Junior forward Chuma Okeke was able to join his team post surgery entering the arena on crutches.
Head coach Bruce Pearl talked the journey his team has been through to get to where they are now saying, “young kids still want to be coached. They want to be disciplined. They want to be loved, but they want to be held accountable and that’s what these guys have been doing all year long to become a great team. We maybe didn’t start out as a great team, but we sure did become one.
“I just appreciate the four years of being here. It’s been amazing and our goal every year is to get better and I think it just goes to show our work ethic,” says Auburn senior guard Bryce Brown.
As the Auburn basketball season comes to a close, a new begins with the Auburn football spring game happening this Saturday.
