Pope Francis: New Guidelines On Sex Abuse
THE VATICAN PUBLISHED NEW LAWS AND GUIDELINES AGAINST THE SEXUAL ABUSE OF MINORS FOR EMPLOYEES AND RESIDENTS IN THE VATICAN CITY STATE.
(CNN)- On Friday, the Vatican published new laws and guidelines against the sexual abuse of minors for employees and residents in the Vatican city state.
The laws were signed personally by Pope Francis.
In 2013, Pope Francis updated the Vatican city’s laws to include criminalizing sexual violence against minors.
But this is the first time the Vatican has created a comprehensive set of procedures and laws to follow specifically regarding child sexual abuse for the Vatican city state.
The laws and guidelines are binding on residents and employees there, including all Vatican offices and Vatican embassies abroad and go into effect June first.
