Scholar Athlete of the Week: Calvary Christian’s Peyton Holloway
PEYTON HOLLOWAY IS TRYING TO HELP LEAD THE KNIGHTS TO ANOTHER STATE TITLE
The Calvary Christian baseball team is setting a standard in their region. So far they’re 18-4 on the season and undefeated in region play.
For Peyton Holloway, the answer to their success is pretty simple.
“Just playing a lot of good baseball, we bond very well together, we play like a family,” says Calvary Christian Junior baseball player, Peyton Holloway. “We’ve been playing sharp on defense and coach always puts the best team out there. That’s why we’ve been winning, give all my credit to my teammates, we’ve been doing great”
Holloway is also a team captain, which comes with it’s fair share of pressure.
“Definitely gives you a lot of responsibility, your teammates look up to you, they watch everything that you do so you have to be on your guard, you got to do what you know is right,” said Holloway.
The baseball team won a state title last year, marking the first state championship in Calvary Christian school history.
With the playoffs around the corner, there’s nothing more Peyton would like to do than bring home another ring.
“This seasons almost over it’s going by very quickly,” says Holloway. “Just trying to get an opportunity to get the seniors another ring and put myself in an opportunity to get two more”
In the classroom Holloway maintains a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the national honors society.
He’s also had the opportunity to be a leader in his church.
“I teach children’s church at my church every Sunday and Wednesday,” says Holloway. “That’s been fun and since my dad’s a pastor, I’ve been in the church for a long time and it’s really just me being able to tell other kids about it and I’m having a blast with it.”
Congratulations Peyton Holloway, WLTZ’s scholar athlete of the week.
