McDonalds Will No Longer Lobby Against Min Wage Hikes

MCDONALD'S SAYS IT WILL STOP LOBBYING AGAINST MINIMUM WAGE HIKES

(CNN) – McDonald’s is backing off of those lobbying against minimum wage increases.

The announcement was made in a letter to the National Restaurant Association.

But McDonald’s also said that any wage increases should be “phased in.”

Companies nationwide have been raising pay to hire and retain employees, amid low unemployment.

But in Mickey D’s case, the restaurant chain has also been the target of wage increase activists.

Currently, the company says its new employees at corporate-owned stores make above $10.00 an hour.

The federal minimum wage is $7.25, but it’s higher in many states.
