Columbus Lions Begin Mini Camp Ahead of 2019 Season
NATIONAL ARENA LEAGUE STARTS BACK UP IN THREE WEEKS
The Columbus Lions began mini camp for the 2019 season this week and one of their main focuses this preseason is finding a replacement for quarterback Mason Espinosa.
Espinosa now plays in the AFL for the Albany Empire.
The Lions have been busy this off season building back up their roster after losing Espinosa, Nate Isles and Darius Rosser.
They recently added Aundrey Walker from USC and former Georgia bulldog Trent Thompson who spent time with the Cleveland Browns and the Arizona Hotshots.
Head coach Jason Gibson talks on how the offseason has gone thus far saying, “there’s not as many guys here as I usually have for camp, but I kind of kept it small because I put more time into just kind of really identifying the type of people we want, with character and personalities and how they fit the system, so hopefully it’ll work out for us and yeah most of them do play in the SEC.”
Game one of the season is set for April 13th against the Orlando Predators on the road.
