21 Athletes Participate in Georgia’s Pro Day

21 athletes had their resumes on full display this morning as Georgia hosted their annual pro day.

Atlanta Falcons general manger Thomas Dimitroff and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick were both in attendance.

“I mean the athletes in this state, the athletes at this school, we are always going to be really honed in on it and I think today was good. We had a lot of people here. We gleaned a lot of information here, so that’s good,” says Atlanta Falcons general manger Thomas Dimitroff.

Head coach Kirby Smart knows this experience for his athletes all to well having gone through a Georgia Pro Day back in 1999.

“I can still remember the day in my life when you had this day. It meant so much to you and so many dreams and aspirations are realized on this day and we still say ‘your tape’ is going to speak volumes to who you are, and a lot of our kids have some good tape, but they want to do well on this day. They train hard for this day. There’s a lot of pressure on them for this day. It’s important to them, so we want to give them the best opportunity to be successful,” says Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart.

And those athletes feel like Georgia has prepared them for the next level.

Tight end Isaac Nauta talked specifically on how his role at Georgia translates to the role he will have in the NFL saying, “playing the tight end position here, you’ve got to do everything you know, and if you want to be a tight end in the NFL you’ve got to block, you’ve got to be able to play in the back field, you’ve got to split out, and our offense translates well to the next level. It’s very pro style and I think teams, they see I can do everything.”

“It’s kind of both relief and excitement. I’m relieved that I got everything, all of the testing done and things like that and now I can just work on football drills and things like that, but you know it’s kind of exciting because the draft is coming up April 25th so that’s the biggest day of my life, what I’ve been waiting on, so I’m looking forward to that,” says Georgia defensive back Deandre Baker.

Athletes like Deandre Baker, Terry Godwin, Mecole Hardman, Riley Ridley, and a few others will now wait to see if their name will be called in the first round of the NFL draft on April 25th.
