Moon Samples To Be Tested After 50 Years
NASA ANNOUNCES IT IS FINALLY GOING TO STUDY LUNAR SAMPLES COLLECTED DURING THE APOLL 15, 16, AND 17 MISSIONS
(CNN) – After sitting untouched in storage for nearly 50 years, lunar samples collected during the final three Apollo missions are going to be studied.
NASA says the samples from Apollo 15, 16, and 17 have never been exposed to earth’s atmosphere.
One is from the moon’s core and it was delivered to earth in a vacuum-sealed drive tube in 1972.
And the other samples have been kept frozen or stored in helium.
NASA says this research can prepare them for the next exploration of the moon and beyond.
