Cougars Finish in Sixth at Southeastern Collegiate


The 23rd-ranked Columbus State University men’s golf team finished in sixth out of 18 teams at the conclusion of the Southeastern Collegiate. The tournament was held at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

The Cougars finished round three shooting a 295 to put them at a 1-over 865 for the overall tournament. Top-ranked Barry shot an 848 over the 54 holes to finish a full nine shots ahead of second place Nova Southeastern (857). Second-ranked Lynn (858) grabbed a third place finish while Florida Tech (861) and Saint Leo (848) rounded out the top five.

Jordan Doull was the top performer for the Cougars in the tournament after shooting an even par 72 in round three. He ended the Southeastern Collegiate in a tie for 9th overall finishing the three rounds with a 3-under 213. Doull has grabbed a top-ten finish in all three of the tournaments the Cougars have played in this spring.

Right behind Doull was teammate Ronan Kleu, who fired the best round of the day for CSU shooting a 1-under 71. He entered the clubhouse in a tie for 15th shooting a 1-under 215 for the tournament.

Senior Duncan van der Vyver snagged two birdies in the final round going 2-over par. He finished tied for 33rd place with an overall score of 3-over. Preston Wagaman posted a 6-over 78 in the final round to put him tied for 59th over the three rounds.

Cole Cruickshank was the drop score for the Cougars, shooting 9-over to put him tied for 71st at 11-over for the tournament.

Columbus State will be back in action Monday, March 18 at the Bobcat Invitational held at Cuscowilla on Lake Oconee.
