Quitting smoking might lead to temporary weight gain.

In Your Health Minute,

A new Harvard study suggests quitting smoking is worth it for people with diabetes even if they gain some weight.

Researchers tracked the long term health of over 10-thousand diabetic men and women.

People who quit smoking but gained weight had no greater risk of heart attack or stroke than those who continued to smoke.

But the risks were even lower for people who quit smoking without gaining weight.
