Scholar Athlete: Brookstone Schools’ Sam Grier
BROOKSTONE SENIOR SAM GRIER IS HOPING HIS HIGH ACADEMIC STANDING CAN GET HIM INTO HIS DREAM SCHOOL
Brookstone Schools’ Sam Grier wrapped up his senior season of basketball and now he’s heading into his last season of soccer.
He also serves as the schools student body treasurer and is the leader of the student service project. All in all, a lot of what Sam does goes into Brookstone.
“Go to school for most of the day, then after school come to soccer practice. I’m here most of the day,” Said Grier.
On the soccer field Sam has helped lead the cougars to a great start and his job as a leader is even more important this year.
“We lost four pretty important seniors last year in some pretty important positions,” says Grier. “The younger guys are really stepping up and we re looking good so far.”
Beyond the field Sam has a 4.2 GPA and takes multiple advanced math and science courses as he looks to attend the university of Georgia and study engineering.
“It would mean a lot for me. That’s what I have my sights set on is Georgia so if I get in, I’ll for sure go,” Said Grier.
Sam is expected to hear if he’s been accepted into UGA by the end of the month and if he is, one of the things he’s looking forward to is the opportunity to be in Sanford Stadium on Saturdays, but not everybody in his household is excited for that.
My mom doesn’t like that though she went to Auburn, she’s a big Auburn fan,” Says Grier. “But hey house divided I guess.”
Congratulations Sam Grier WLTZ’s Scholar Athlete of the Week.
