Fort Benning needs some more room to train armor troops in their tanks.

Tuesday February 26th 2019 the public had a chance to learn why at a special meeting at the Columbus government center annex.

Fort Benning leaders are laying it on the line saying they need more designated training areas for their tanks.

The current area is just not enough to properly train tank troops for combat.

The event is the first heavy off road mounted manuever training area environmental impact statement meeting.

People were able to learn more about the project aimed at picking one of three new possible training locations on post.

People had a chance to ask questions and submit comments on how this could affect issues like the environment.
