Carver Girls & Boys Basketball Teams Heading to the Elite Eight
LADY TIGERS GO ON TO THE ROAD TO HERITAGE WHILE THE BOYS HOST CARTERSVILLE
Last night the Carver girls basketball team punched their ticket to the elite eight with a convincing 76-36 win over Cross Creek.
This will be the Lady Tigers third trip to the elite eight under head coach Anson Hundley.
They will travel to Heritage high school to take on the Lady Generals in the next round.
Coach Hundley spoke after the win on why his team has been so dominant this season saying, “It’s our defense. We try to put a lot of pressure on the ball. We try to play an up-tempo game and we try to make teams play out of their comfort zone and so far it seems that’s worked.”
The carver boys team will also head into the next round after taking down howard last night.
They will host wilkinson county in the elite eight next week.
Region opponent Americus-Sumter was also victorious last night and Carver boys head coach Warren Beaulah said that didn’t surprise him saying, “I already knew they were going to beat them. I had watched Upson-Lee play and I know I had an opportunity to play against a tough Americus-Sumter team. I said everybody said it was going to be a hard matchup for Americus-Sumter. I said no it’s going to be a hard match-up for Upson-Lee so I was not surprised at all.”
When asked if coach Beaulah would you be surprised if he saw them again in this tournament he answered with, “I already talked to him. Me and the coach are real good friends and I already talked to him and I said that’s where I want to see them again at.”
