Study: Movies Featured More Female Leads In 2018

STUDY: TOP MOVIES FAVOR MALE CHARACTERS, BUT WOMEN MAKING SOME ADVANCEMENTS

(CNN) – Women are finally making some advancements in Hollywood, but the big roles still go to men more often.

A study by San Diego State University looked into top-grossing movies in 2018.

It found 31% of movies released last year had female leads, a small increase from the year before.

That’s partly thanks to the movies like “Crazy Rich Asians”, “A Star is Born” and “Halloween.”

Top movies also features more black, Latino and Asian women.

The study looked into 100 top domestic movies that came out last year.
