Harris County Girl’s Basketball Hosts Wayne County in GHSA Sweet Sixteen

LADY TIGERS LOOKING TO BUILD ON LAST SEASON'S FINAL FOUR RUN

The Harris County girls basketball team will face Wayne County tomorrow night in the GHSA sweet sixteen.

The Lady Tigers made it all the way to the final four last season under head coach Steffanie Ramsey.

This year they hope to be the first girl’s team from Harris County to win a state championship.

Last year they graduated their star athlete Jessika Carter, but her sisters Jherni, Ny’Azjha and ZiKeyah all play on the team and have filled that void.

“It’s been a challenge, but I feel like ZiKeyah, her younger sister, she’s done what I’ve asked her to do as far as rebounding the basketball. She’s not a scoring threat like as much as Jessica, but her other sister Ny’Azjha has picked up some of that scoring slack,” says Harris County head girl’s basketball coach Steffanie Ramsey.

“We all know each other from like a long time back and we’ve all come together and like formed a team. Whenever one is off, we’re all off, and we all have to pull ourselves together, get our heads right and get in the game together,” says Harris County freshman guard Jherni Carter-Ransom.

Tip-off is set for 6pm eastern time at Harris County high school.
