Scholar Athlete: Chambers Academy’s Colton Hand
COLTON HAND IS LOOKING TO LEAD THE CHAMBERS ACADEMY REBELS TO A SECOND STATE TITLE THIS YEAR
Colton Hand is a multi sport athlete for chambers academy and maintains a 3.7 GPA while taking all advanced courses.
His motivation for all that… “My mom is hard on me about everything, always has been so she’s my main motivation,” Says Colton Hand.
In the future Colton wants to follow the footsteps of his family and be a journeyman linesman for Alabama Power.
“All my family they made good grades, made it in life and made good money so I’d like to do that too,” Says Hand.
As for right now he’s trying to lead the Rebels to a state championship
“Try to make sure everybody stays focused and comes to practice ready to work,” Says Hand.
“Colton’s a great kid, he’s been with us in our program for the past four years as a varsity player and I coached him coming through junior high,” Says Jason Allen, Chambers Academy’s head basketball coach. “He really does a great job for us, he’s one of our best defenders and he does a great job shooting the 3 ball.”
While Colton and the Rebels are trying to bring home a state title in basketball, everybody on the team has already won a state championship this year in football.
For the seniors that comes special having lost the championship game the prior 3 years.
“It was crazy,” says Hand. “We came up short all those years in the past and to pull it of this year is a great step.”
Congratulations to Colton Hand WLTZ’s Scholar Athlete of the Week!
