Rematch of Last Year’s NCAA DII Tennis National Championship

COLUMBUS STATE AND BARRY GO HEAD TO HEAD AT THE NATIONAL TENNIS CENTER IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA

The CSU men and women’s tennis teams head out to Orlando this weekend to take on Barry, on the pre-season slate, at one of the most prestigious venues in the tennis world.

The men’s team is currently ranked #1 in the country coming off a national championship win over Barry last summer.

The women fell to Barry in the semifinals who went on to win the national championship.

It’s a rematch all around from last season’s tournament, but the goal this weekend is to test where the teams are at.

“Everybody’s really pumped, trying to get their bodies right, trying to have a good week of practice, because you know we’re not really too concerned about the result this weekend, but it’ll be a good indication to where we stand and where we have to improve going forward,” says CSU men’s tennis senior KP Pannu.

“No it would definitely be significant. It would be something psychologically we can get a hand up on everybody you know we know for the men with Barry they are going to come out with a lot of revenge in their hearts on that, and you know the girls have a good shot to win and play well and that will be nice, but it doesn’t mean anything til the end of the year,” says CSU tennis head coach Evan Isaacs.

Matches start at 9am this Saturday at the National Tennis Center.
