More Warmth; Occasional Shower
Clouds will likely win out over the amount of sunshine this weekend, but overall mild weather will be the name of the game. Temperatures will take a bit of a step backward Saturday, for Groundhog Day with a shower in spots, namely during the morning hours. However, no cold weather is expected until the second week of February.
Cloud cover will act like a blanket at night to lock in warm overnight weather. A little bit of sunshine, despite an occasional shower this weekend, will allow for high temperatures at or above average for many days in-a-row. Matter of fact, 70+ degree weather will return for a few days next week with times of clouds and sun. The air flow originating from the Gulf of Mexico may lead to a passing shower early next week as well, but it will be much warmer! If enough of a breeze develops, the record high of 82 on Thursday next week isn’t out of the realm of possibilities.
However, Winter is still lurking over parts of the Lower 48. A cold front approaching late next week or over the weekend will bring us back to reality. The timing of the front is still in question, so stay tuned, and get outside! Happy Groundhog weekend.
