The Auburn softball team appeared in a third preseason poll when the Tigers appeared in the inaugural Softball America preseason poll, the organization announced Thursday afternoon.
Additionally, the Tigers were ranked No. 17 in the USA Today / NFCA Coaches and ESPN.com/USA Softball Preseason Top 25 polls, both of which were released earlier in the week.
Last season, Auburn posted a 29-3 record in games played at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers will look to continue their home dominance under second-year head coach Mickey Dean with a 33-game home schedule in 2019.
Auburn is one of nine Southeastern Conference teams — the most of any conference — represented in the first Softball America poll. The Pac-12 and Big 12 have four and three selections, respectively.
The Tigers begin their 2019 season on Feb. 8 when they travel to Gulf Shores to participate in the Sand Dollar Classic. Auburn will begin play against Tennessee State (2 p.m.) before playing Western Kentucky (5 p.m.) next Friday.
Softball America is a new sister publication of Baseball America and its rankings are determined by the staff along with a select group of Division I coaches.
