Samsung Getting Rid Of Plastic Packaging
SAMSUNG IS WORKING TO BE MORE ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY
(CNN) – Samsung is working to be more “green.”
The largest smart-phone maker in the world is getting rid of the plastic packaging that’s often used to protect electronic items.
Officials say they’ll soon wrap appliances and devices in an environmentally-friendly fashion with paper, pulp molds and recycled plastic.
This includes small products like phones, but also their large home appliances like washing machines and TV’s.
According to market research firm IDC, Samsung sold about 291-million smartphones in 2018.
And some reports say there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by the year 2050.
Samsung as a company consumed nearly 600,000 tons of plastic in 2017.
That’s according to its latest sustainability report.
