2019 Project Homeless Connect
New Horizons Behavioral Health is partnering with different organizations around the community to host the 10th annual Project Homeless Connect Event. This event is for people in Muscogee County who are homeless.
The event is Friday, January 25 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at 2405 Second Ave.
According to New Horizons, this event is in conjunction with the Annual HUD Point in Time Count to bring a One-Stop event with information on healthcare, housing, employment, education, social services, substance abuse and mental health treatment while providing free haircuts, clothing, toiletries, pillows and socks in addition to a hot breakfast and elegant lunch with guest speakers and door prizes sponsored by Chick-Fil-A – Bradley Park Drive..
It is estimated that 40% of individuals experiencing chronic homelessness are living with a severe, persistent mental illness. Another 25% are battling addiction. New Horizons Behavioral Health provides services to individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness and/or addiction through their PATH Street Outreach Team and Shelter Plus Care Housing Program.
Other partners of the event are: Home 4 Good, United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley; Open Door Community House; Piedmont Columbus Health Care; AmeriGroup; E & S Mattress and Furniture Discounters; Waffle House; and Latavia Moore’s Clothes Closet.
