Scholar Athlete: Central Softball, Orianna Watters
The Central high school softball season is just a few weeks away and first baseman Orianna Watters has her mind set on a specific goal.
“I just want us to make it to state this year and hopefully win it all and bring home a map you know our football team brought home a map so I want to bring home one too,” says Central softball senior first baseman Orianna Watters.
As a senior this will be her final shot at bringing home a state championship and she hasn’t lightened the load on herself in anyway.
“I’m in all AP classes. I’m in AP economics, AP biology, AP literature,” says Watters.
And it doesn’t stop there. Orianna is involved in two different honor society organizations, Beta Club, and is the secretary for student government.
“Student government and Beta Club really help me with leadership skills because we go to competitions all the time and you have to be out there to help drive your team to victory like on and off the field,” says Watters.
She’s also maintained a 4.1 grade point average along the way in efforts to earn an academic scholarship to study to be a veterinarian.
“I want to become a veterinarian because my dog had a lot of health issues. He had a calpine trachea, so I felt like I really wanted to do something with animals,” says Watters.
Congratulations to Orianna Watters of Central high school, this week’s WLTZ scholar athlete.
