Auburn Planning Commission Approves Regulations on “Academic Detached Dwelling Units”

The Auburn Planning Commission approved a regulation to define single family homes designed for students.

City planners are calling them “academic detached dwelling units.”

These homes, developers are designing for students, are popping up in neighborhoods all over the city.

City planners came up with ways to define what these types of houses were, separate from other single family homes in neighborhoods near the campus.

So, planners created different regulations for those wanting to build these types of homes for students.

The regulations will now be considered for approval by the city council in their February 19 meeting.
