Auburn MBB Hosts Georgia in 188th Meeting

Tom Crean and Bruce Pearl will go head to head for this first time ever as Georgia and Auburn meet for the 188th time this Saturday.

“Never played against each other, so really don’t know how it would unfold, how he would react to certain things we do and certain schemes that they do,” says Auburn head men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl.

Auburn comes off only it’s third loss on the year to Ole Miss, while Georgia opens up conference play with a big win over Vanderbilt.

As it’s been for the last few years, this matchup has a little more meaning for players like Bryce Brown, Jared Harper, Chuma Okeke, and Anfernee Macklemore who are natives of Georgia.

“I’ve got a lot of guys on this roster from Georgia and many of them weren’t recruited by Georgia and we still, I think have to play with that chip on our shoulder. We have an opportunity if we can beat Georgia, it’d be three straight, and we haven’t done that since the 2000’s,” says coach Pearl.

“Oh definitely. I’ll never forget that just because I’m a home native of Georgia and you know it would have been nice for them to recruit me, but you know that’s in the past and focus on tomorrow’s game,” says Auburn junior guard Bryce Brown.

Tomorrow afternoon’s game will also serve as letterman’s weekend as Auburn honors the 1999 team that won the SEC regular season championship and advanced to the sweet sixteen.

Tip-off is set for 3 pm central time at Auburn arena.
