Joshua Tree National Park To Temporarily Close
JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE BECAUSE OF SANITATION AND REPAIR ISSUES DURING SHUTDOWN
(CNN) – The partial government shutdown has left Joshua Tree National Park trashed.
The southern California park is one of the many places across the country with limited staff and security because of the nearly three-week-long shutdown caused by a failure to reach a spending agreement.
Due to a lack of rangers working in the park, visitors have left areas damaged and dirty.
The park will close Thursday and won’t re-open until clean up and repairs are taken care of.
It’s unclear how long that will take, but the National Park Service says they hope to have things up and running again “as quickly as possible.”
