From Friday to Sunday, Gabrielsen Natatorium will be the premier destination for 81 divers from 12 universities: Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Arkansas, South Carolina, Auburn, Missouri, Virginia, NC State, Iowa State and SMU.
On Friday and Saturday, competition begins at 11 a.m. ET. Friday includes the women’s 3-meter springboard and the men’s 1-meter; Saturday the women’s’ 1-meter and the men’s 3-meter. Sunday includes platform diving at 10 a.m. ET.
Nine Bulldog divers are scheduled to compete. Austin and Lim return to the pool following first-place finishes in the Georgia Fall Invitational in December. Austin topped the 3-meter springboard field, with Lim pacing the platform contingent.
On the men’s side, competition is highlighted by 2018 NCAA finalists Zeng Zhipeng from Tennessee and Juan Hernandez from LSU. For the women, 2018 NCAA finalist Rachel Rubadue from Tennessee and NCAA 3-meter champion Brooke Schultz from Arkansas will also be competing in Athens.
Before the Georgia swimming and diving program makes its 2019 debut in full on Saturday, January 12 against Texas – which features the No. 5 men and the No. 1 women – at Gabrielsen Natatorium, the men take on Harvard on Monday, January 7 at 12 p.m. in Athens. The Texas meet is slated for a 10 a.m. ET start time on SEC Network +.
